The Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-EMB) Central Visayas Regional Office has granted the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) to the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation – Integrated Development Center (JPIC-IDC) Inc. Fr. Anthony S. Salas, SVD, JPIC-IDC Inc. Executive Director personally signed and received the certificate. Prior to signing, Mr. Alan C. Arranguez, EMB OIC-Regional Director read the conditions and restrictions stipulated in the ECC. According to Arranguez, the conditions should be followed religiously by the proponent JPIC-IDC Inc. He added that their office will conduct a surprise visit in the housing project site to monitor the (JPIC-IDC’s) compliance of the specified conditions and restrictions. “Makabalay na gyud ang mga pobre!” (At last, the poor can now own their house!) was Fr. Salas’ exclamation with a wide grin before leaving the EMB office.
Site development works in Lapu-lapu housing nearly complete
The site development works undertaken by the Dakay Construction and Development Corporation (DCDC) is “nearly complete”, according to DCDC Site Engineer Jemuel Valiente. The work was supposedly finished last June but its timeframe was extended due to the additional works to be done such as the construction of a bridge over the project’s retention pond, fire hydrant system and cistern tanks. Engr. Valiente said that “if there are no major hitches”, their work will be finished at the end of August. Meanwhile, the post-qualification conferences with the housing and electrical distribution contractors have been going on since the last week of July. Fidel Mariveles and Suzette Pacaña, Project Officer and Engineer respectively, have also done their background checking of the contractors to determine the latter’s capacity to undertake the project. The financial capacity will be analyzed by Mr. Simplicio Villacorta, another Consultant of JPIC-IDC Inc. Construction of the first 100 houses is expected to start on September this year. The interview and selection of home partners which was temporarily stopped will also continue later this month.
